Vladimir Putin congratulated Russia’s Buddhists on the Lunar New Year and the beginning of the White Moon festival.
The message reads, in part:
“This holiday, which is particularly revered by followers of Buddhism, symbolises hope, expectations, and humanity’s desire for inner harmony and purity of thought. On this day, people traditionally reflect on the departing year, let go of grudges, and help their loved ones.
I am pleased to note that Russian Buddhists cherish their ancestors’ authentic traditions and customs, preserving their invaluable moral and spiritual legacy. Buddhist organisations are actively engaged in extensive and relevant work in education and charity. They strive to educate the younger generation and support participants in the special military operation and their families. Russian Buddhists make a significant contribution to ensuring peace, accord and mutual understanding in society and fostering interfaith and interethnic dialogue.”
The President also sent messages of greetings to Head of Buddhist Traditional Sangkha of Russia Pandito Khambo Lama Damba Ayusheyev, Head of Buddhists of Kalmykia, Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choidak (Mutul Ovyanov), and Head of Buddhists of the Republic of Tuva, Geshe Gelek Natsyk Dorju (Sergek Saryglar).
