Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the faculty and staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and alumni of Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University on the institution’s 125th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“Over the years, many generations of university alumni – prominent scientists, designers, inventors – true enthusiasts and innovators have made a great contribution to the development of Russian scientific and technical ideas, industrial production, and the construction, energy, and defence sectors.
As before, the university remains one of the acknowledged leaders in training engineering, management, and research personnel. Professionals who graduated from the legendary university possess current knowledge and are working in key sectors of the economy, in the sphere of advanced technologies.
I am confident that the faculty and staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students and alumni will continue to cherish and multiply the wonderful traditions of their predecessors and with their success, they will maintain the high reputation of their alma mater to the glory of Russia.”
