Dmitry Medvedev gave instructions to step up security measures at Russia's diplomatic missions in Kyrgyzstan

The President of Russia instructed defence and law enforcement agencies to tighten surveillance and security at Russia’s diplomatic and other missions in Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev expressed his position regarding the situation in Kyrgyzstan calling for urgent steps to prevent further casualties and to restore national governance.

Mr Medvedev is regularly briefed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on all developments in Kyrgyzstan. In particular, Mr Putin has reported to President Medvedev on the conversation he had the day before with one of Kyrgyzstan’s opposition leaders, Roza Otunbayeva.
