May 26, 2024, Tashkent

Vladimir Putin and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the New Uzbekistan Park. The President of Russia laid a wreath at the Independence Monument in the park.

The leaders viewed a bas-relief depicting the history of Uzbekistan and information boards on the projects being implemented in the Republic, such as preparations for the Asian Games and the construction of New Tashkent.

After a joint photo, Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev engaged in an informal conversation.

The New Uzbekistan Park, spanning 104 hectares in area, is the largest recreational park in Uzbekistan. It was built at the initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev and inaugurated on August 31, 2021, in celebration of the Republic’s 30th anniversary of independence. The park is designed to resemble a tree with five branches, symbolising priority areas in the Strategy of Actions for the further development of Uzbekistan.

The Independence Monument is located in the central part of the park, with a bas-relief wall depicting the country’s history underneath it.
