Vladimir Putin visited the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum and Heritage Site, including the reconstructed rooms of the Alexander Pushkin Memorial Lyceum and Museum and The Poet and the Tsar exhibition dedicated to the 225th birth anniversary of the great poet.
The President toured the Memorial Lyceum and Museum, including the cloakroom, the pantry, the dining room, the hospital, the classes, which underwent renovations as part of the reconstruction project. The Memorial Lyceum and Museum opened in 1949 in the building of the former Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoye Selo, where Alexander Pushkin studied between 1811 and 1817. Director of the National Pushkin Museum Sergei Nekrasov provided explanations to the President.
The Poet and the Tsar exhibition, which Vladimir Putin also visited, is located in the Cameron Gallery of Catherine Park and is dedicated to Alexander Pushkin’s relationships with the emperor and grand dukes. This joint project of the National Pushkin Museum and the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum and Heritage Site was implemented with support from the Culture Ministry. It features more than 120 unique exhibits, including the poet’s personal belongings, books published during his lifetime, portraits, archival documents, and memorabilia of the imperial family. Many of these items are being displayed for the first time. Director of the National Pushkin Museum Sergei Nekrasov and Director of the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum and Heritage Site Olga Taratynova provided explanations to the President.
