Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
The presidents expressed mutual interest in further deepening the successfully developing Russian-Brazilian strategic partnership across all major areas. In particular, they agreed to maintain close interaction between two countries based on Russia’s BRICS chairmanship and Brazil’s G20 presidency this year.
When discussing the situation surrounding Ukraine, Vladimir Putin laid out Russia’s principled approaches in connection with the upcoming “peace conference” in Switzerland.
In turn, the President of Brazil expressed his willingness to contribute to identifying ways to provide a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict, which is set forth in the well-known Brazil and China’s joint initiative.
