Vladimir Putin sent greetings to active and retired workers of the shipbuilding sector on their professional holiday, Shipbuilder’s Day.
The message reads, in part:
“Shipbuilding is rightfully considered a key priority sector of the domestic industry and economy as a whole. Our shipyards and design bureaus are using their powerful industrial, intellectual and personnel potential to build modern civilian vessels and warships. We are building many passenger, research, transport, and fishing vessels and manufacturing unique marine equipment for developing the seas and offshore deposits. It is largely thanks to our shipbuilders that we are creating new international logistics routes and developing river and ferry services, which are so important for our regions. We build nuclear icebreakers which are unmatched in the world and are playing a vital role in the economic development of the Arctic, in particular, the Northern Sea Route. The United Shipbuilding Corporation, the largest integrated organisation in this sector, is making an invaluable and essential contribution to this responsible and multifaceted work.
I would like to emphasise that you face vital strategic tasks today. We must ensure reliable operation of our enterprises amid the unprecedented external challenges, remain committed to quality and timely execution of the state defence order, and work to strengthen the technological and economic sovereignty of our country.”
