Vladimir Putin sent greetings to President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad on the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Syria.
The message reads, in part:
“Over the past decades, Moscow and Damascus have built a wealth of experience in bilateral cooperation across various fields. Through our combined efforts, we have achieved significant success in combatting international terrorism on Syrian soil.
I would like to reaffirm that Russia will steadfastly support the government of the Syrian Arab Republic in its efforts to uphold the country’s state sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as to ensure national security and internal political stability.
We believe that the further development of the comprehensive Russian-Syrian relations fully aligns with the interests of our peoples and contributes to the strengthening of peace and stability at regional and international levels alike.”
