Vladimir Putin visited the Fencing Centre in the capital city of Bashkortostan.
The President was accompanied by Presidential Aide Alexei Dyumin, Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov and Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov. The explanations were given by Director of the Ufa Olympic Reserve Sports School for Fencing Lira Grushina.
The new Fencing Centre in the Republic of Bashkortostan is a modern sports complex with up-to-date technical capabilities for training and holding competitions of various levels. The facility was commissioned on October 1, 2024. It has a total area of 6,200 square metres and a maximum capacity of 250 people.
The Centre has several gyms: universal, specialised and training gyms with a total of 28 fencing lanes. The building also has a gym, a recreation room, a swimming pool, a canteen, a workshop for repairing equipment and weapons, and a conference hall. To equip the centre, the Russian Fencing Federation purchased Russian-made specialised equipment worth about 90 million roubles.
The centre has already hosted the Salavat’s Sabre fencing competition as part of the international forum Russia – a Sporting Power with athletes from Russia, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
