Meeting with Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov

October 17, 2024, Ufa

Concluding his working trip to Bashkortostan, the President held a working meeting with Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov.

The Head of Bashkortostan began his report with the topic of supporting the participants of the special military operation. In particular, he spoke about working together with the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation to rehabilitate those who have been injured and maimed, as well as about the entry of those who have already fought back into civilian life, where their best qualities are needed. According to him, 35 veterans of the special military operation have been elected deputies of local self-government bodies, and there are servicemen who have become chairs of village councils. Radiy Khabirov said that there were enterprises in the region that produce rehabilitation equipment, and a regional government programme has been adopted to subsidise them. He also mentioned the work in the sponsored district of Krasny Luch, the Lugansk People’s Republic.

According to Khabirov, the economy as a whole is developing well, all indicators of economic development are quite high. Work with new markets is underway, and the republic has started working with the People’s Republic of China. Joint co-operation projects with Belarus and Uzbekistan have already become operational.

All existing measures of economic support are being worked out with the Government. These are special economic zones, industrial parks, and technology parks.

Answering the President’s question, Mr Khabirov spoke about the situation in agriculture after last year’s frosts, which caused great damage. This year’s grain harvest was expected at 5 million tonnes. But from mid-July to mid-August there were heavy rains, that is why no less than 3.2 million tonnes of grain have been harvested so far, and the harvesting continues. At the same time, the harvest of beetroot has increased by 50 percent, and two large sugar factories are producing six times more sugar than the region needs. The harvest of oilseeds has increased by a quarter, and also two large oil refineries are producing six times more than the region needs. Therefore, both the industrial output index and the agricultural development index will increase this year.

Emphasis is now being placed on the processing industry and the industrialisation of agriculture in general. These include large commercial farms, large meat farms and, above all, the purchase of mechanical equipment. Over the past six years, about 60 billion rubles worth of machinery have been bought, which speeds up both sowing and harvesting. All this affects the socioeconomic numbers. Khabirov noted that the republic is looking forward to seeing more national projects in education and medicine.
