Vladimir Putin congratulated members of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights on the council’s 20th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“In the past years, the Council has earned nationwide authority and respect, proving its relevance through many helpful initiatives and tangible actions. You make a significant contribution to the development of civil society, firmly and consistently defending the ideals of humanism, democracy, and our traditional values.
Your work centres on people and their daily concerns, needs and wishes. Most importantly, the Council focuses on helping thousands of people who report their issues. This concentration of efforts on social problems, and on protecting the rights and legal interests of individuals in this field is one of the key responsibilities of the Council. Certainly, today, it is vitally important to ensure that the rights of the personnel serving in the special military operation and their families are securely protected.
I commend you for your ability to arrive at consolidated decisions on the most complicated problems. The Council’s opinions, views and recommendations are taken into account by government bodies at different levels.”
