Greetings on the opening of the 17th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum

December 5, 2024

Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants and guests of the 17th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum.

The message reads, in part:

“Your forum brings together representatives of government agencies and business leaders, as well as prominent scientists and experts, and its geographical reach continues to expand. This year, it is being hosted for the first time by the ancient and wonderful city of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

The forum’s theme, New Architecture of Cooperation for Modern Economy, fully reflects the growing need to reform the system of international economic relations in the interests of the Global Majority. It is clear that the outdated model which grants unilateral advantages to a small group of countries should be replaced by a new model based on true equality, justice and respect for each other’s legitimate interests – a model that eliminates any forms of discrimination, diktat, or sanctions pressure. These cooperation principles underpin the activities of the BRICS group, whose latest summit was held recently in Kazan, Russia. We are pleased to note that an increasing number of members of the international community, including our neighbours on the Eurasian continent, are in favour of these principles being established at the global level.

I hope that you will hold meaningful and constructive discussions, and that the proposals and initiatives you put forward will help promote multifaceted interaction between the countries and peoples of Eurasia.”
