Vladimir Putin sent greetings to Badra Gunba on his inauguration as President of the Republic of Abkhazia.
The message reads, in part:
“Relations between our countries are developing in the spirit of friendship and alliance. I hope that your activity as head of state will help strengthen them still further.
The fraternal nations of Russia and Abkhazia are linked by a common history. The Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War has special and continued significance for us. While celebrating this highly important date, the people of Russia and Abkhazia express their gratitude and respect to the heroic generation of victors.”
