Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants and guests of the forum The Beacon of the World and New Historic Frontiers, organized jointly by the Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and the Media Corporation of China to mark the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
The message reads, in part:
“Eighty years ago, the bloodiest and most destructive war in the history of mankind came to an end. The victory in that war was a common, great asset of the peoples of our countries, who made a decisive contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany and militaristic Japan.
Today, our sacred duty is to cherish and pass on to posterity the memory about the glorious exploits and incalculable victims of the victorious generation. Any attempt to distort history, to revise the outcome of the Second World War, to whitewash or forget the atrocities committed by the Nazis, militarists and their accomplices must be resisted in the most resolute and uncompromising manner possible.
Our mass media played a crucial role in defending the historical truth. It is important that Russian-Chinese cooperation in the media area has been developing rather efficiently and successfully and serves as an increasingly visible component of the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing.
In the course of today’s forum you will share professional experience, outline new forms and areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, including the plans to implement joint TV projects and hold a Chinese film festival in Russia this year.”
