The message reads, in part:

“Water transport is one of the key sectors of the national economy. It plays a vital role in strengthening Russia’s security and sovereignty, in unlocking the industrial and tourism potential of our regions, and in promoting trade ties and international cooperation. I would particularly like to highlight your contribution to the development of the Arctic, Siberia and the Russian Far East.

Today, the maritime and river fleet faces important and ambitious tasks. It is essential to respond effectively to the demands of the domestic market and the growing needs of businesses and industries, while also establishing new logistics routes, including those of global scale. I would like to stress that the state will continue to support the expansion of shipbuilding and port development programmes, as well as the modernisation of infrastructure, including inland waterways.

It is heartening to see that, as you plan for the future, you draw on the experience and proud traditions of your predecessors and take inspiration from the true heroes of your profession – those who, during the Great Patriotic War, under the most difficult conditions and often at great personal risk, ensured the continued operation of our maritime and inland water transport systems.”
