Mr Medvedev congratulated Mr Cameron on his election to the post of British Prime Minister and wished him success in this high office.

Mr Cameron thanked Dmitry Medvedev for his kind words and for the letter of congratulations sent earlier.

The two sides expressed readiness to cooperate actively in strengthening Russian-British ties, jointly searching for solutions to outstanding problems between the two countries, and to deepen cooperation on international issues, including in preparations for upcoming important international forums where the two leaders plan to hold a bilateral meeting.
