Greetings on Yessentuki’s 200th anniversary

August 30, 2025

Vladimir Putin congratulated Yessentuki residents on the city’s 200th anniversary.

The message reads, in part:

“You can be rightly proud of your native city, which has grown from a small Cossack village into a world-renowned resort and a genuine gem of the North Caucasus. This transformation was achieved through the meaningful accomplishments of generations of your fellow countrymen, who made a colossal contribution to the development of tourism and the resort industry in Russia. The history of Yessentuki is forever intertwined with the contributions of talented scientists, physicians, public health administrators, and distinguished people of culture such as Konstantin Stanislavsky and Fyodor Shalyapin, Sergei Prokofiev and Sergei Rachmaninoff, Maxim Gorky and Alexander Kuprin.

Today, Yessentuki, abundant in greenery and flowers, and renowned for its authentic culture and charm, appeals to residents and visitors alike. The city is developing rapidly and looking confidently toward the future, with new and renovated spa and wellness facilities, alongside large-scale initiatives in conservation, tourism, sports, and transportation. I should emphasise that we will continue to implement programmes aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of Yessentuki residents, creating modern jobs and comfortable public spaces as well as broad self-fulfillment opportunities for the younger generation.”
