Meeting with Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh

September 1, 2025, Tianjin, China

Following the SCO Plus meeting, Vladimir Putin met with Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh (retranslated): Comrade, thank you very much for finding the time to meet with me. I understand that your schedule is extremely busy.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: It would indeed be strange if we did not meet. The relations between our countries and peoples are so deep and close that we always value any opportunity for direct contacts.

Tomorrow we will again have the opportunity to continue our dialogue and interaction as part of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over militarism and the end of World War II. But I am especially glad to meet with you today, as the heads of government have always had a broad agenda in the practical sphere of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation.

Economic relations between Russia and Vietnam are developing actively, and the tasks we have set, including those agreed upon during my visit to Vietnam, are being successfully implemented.

Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh: Comrade, indeed, it would be very strange if we did not meet at such times, as our agenda is truly extensive. Much needs to be discussed, especially the agreements that have been reached and which we must now work on putting into practice.
