Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants in the ceremonial meeting of the General Council of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia marking the 120th anniversary of Russia’s trade union movement and the 35th anniversary of the Federation.
The message reads, in part:
“The trade union movement in Russia is built upon a rich history and remarkable traditions. Trade unions have always played an indispensable role in safeguarding the rights and interests of workers, achieving substantial progress in strengthening labour laws and addressing our most pressing social challenges.
It is therefore gratifying that the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia not only honours this profound legacy but also actively builds upon it. You are rightfully considered a cornerstone of our nation's civil society. Your Federation makes a significant contribution to fortifying social stability and justice, harmonising labour relations, and facilitating constructive dialogue between the state, employers’ associations, and trade unions. This vital, multifaceted work deserves our deepest recognition and gratitude.”
