Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian national team, which participated in the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad, including Arseny Gasanenko, Artyom Akimov, Artyom Yeremin, Danila Besedin, Ivan Yermolayev, Leonard Guranda, Anna Mikhailova, Pavel Chuvichkin and Svetlana Bezukladnikova.
The message reads, in part:
“I congratulate you on your brilliant performance at the 22nd International Junior Science Olympiad.
You confidently performed in the preliminary stages and demonstrated your deep knowledge, immense creative potential and teamwork at the famous Sirius Educational Centre. You represented our country and the national school of scientific education with honour. Your teachers and mentors, families and friends share pride in your remarkable and well deserved success.”

The annual International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) has been held since 2004. This year, it was held for the first time in the Sirius Federal Territory in Russia. Taking part in this intellectual competition were young people from 24 countries. Russia was represented by nine schoolchildren, all of whom have been awarded medals – seven gold and two silver. The competition included tests in physics, chemistry and biology.
