Chairman of United Russia's Supreme Council and State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov submitted to Dmitry Medvedev the party’s proposals on the candidacies for the posts of Head of the Republic of Karelia and President of the Chuvash Republic.
State Duma Deputy Viktor Kidyayev, acting Governor of Karelia Andrei Nelidov, and Prime Minister of Karelia Pavel Chernov were the three candidates proposed for the post of governor of Karelia.
The candidates proposed for the post of governor of Chuvashia were Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister of Chuvashia Mikhail Ignatyev, Prime Minister of Chuvashia Nina Suslonova, and Ruslan Tikhonov, chief federal inspector for Chuvashia on the staff of the plenipotentiary presidential envoy to the Volga Federal District.
Also taking part in the meeting were Secretary of United Russia’s General Council Presidium Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of United Russia’s Central Executive Committee Andrei Vorobyev, and First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vladislav Surkov.
