On the agenda was the transition to a new wage payment system for public sector workers, indexation of pensions, and measures to bring down the number of injuries in road accidents.
Mrs Golikova informed the President that additional federal budget funds have been earmarked to finance the transition to the new public sector wage payment system. More than 100 billion roubles will be spent on this in 2009. Regarding pensions, Mrs Golikova said that the insurance component of pensions will increase by 8 percent as from August 1, and the base component will increase by 15 percent. She noted that this will be the third time the insurance component has been increased this year.
The Minister also reported on measures to bring down the injury rate in road accidents. Mr Medvedev stressed these programmes’ particular importance.
