Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions following an August 9 meeting with representatives of local authorities in the Republic of Mari El.
The Government has been instructed to draft and submit to the Presidential Council for the Local Self-Government Development proposals on expanding some of the powers of the municipal representative bodies.
Instructions also concern amendments to fire prevention rules to take into account the specific circumstances in particular regions, development of centralised water supply systems for rural areas and urban settlements, and housing and utilities sector reforms.
