The law regulates the amount of money that can be donated to political parties and their regional branches.
At the same time, it stipulates an increase in state financing as from January 1, 2009, for political parties entitled to federal budget funds. Funding for political parties overall is determined by the number of voters on the electoral lists for the most recent federal elections, and the annual funds for each political party are determined by the number of votes received by the party’s federal list of candidates or by its candidate for the post of President of the Russian Federation.
