President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon: Dmitry Anatolyevich, thank you very much for accepting our invitation to make this official visit to Tajikistan. The people of Tajikistan welcome you. Russia is a natural strategic partner for Tajikistan and we are very pleased to welcome you to our sunny country.

Our talks will give us the opportunity to continue discussing the development of our cooperation in all different areas. Once again, I thank you.

President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev: Emomali Sharipovich, I would first of all like to thank you for your invitation to make an official visit to Tajikistan.

We are indeed important strategic partners for each other and coordination of our actions is in many ways decisive for our peoples’ futures and for peace and calm in Central Asia. We will therefore discuss bilateral issues and will also examine the international situation. I would like also to thank you once again for your outstanding organisation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s summit. Tajikistan spared no effort in its preparations and the resulting summit was very good, complete, and full of interest.
