Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung (re-translated): President Putin, friends,
On behalf of the Government of Vietnam I cordially welcome you to our country. We are very glad that you could make an official visit to Vietnam, and I am very pleased to be able to meet with you again.
I am deeply convinced that your current visit to Vietnam will give a new impetus to the development of relations between Vietnam and Russia.
Vietnam is very pleased with how rapidly relations between our two countries have developed in recent years. Trust-based political relations between our countries have steadily grown stronger.
Once again I would like to thank you, Comrade President, for your kind words, and also for taking the time to receive my delegation during my visit to Russia in May of this year.
On behalf of the Government of Vietnam, I highly appreciate and welcome the results of the negotiations that just took place between you and our President. In this connection, I propose that we include the agreements that you and our President reached in the high-priority checklist for next year. Intergovernmental commissions should meet every year to monitor how the projects on the list are being implemented. In turn, the Vietnamese Government will do everything possible to implement the agreements that state leaders have reached.
I would also like to hear your comments, Comrade President.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Prime Minister, my dear friend, I am very glad to see you again.
I well remember our talks in Sochi in May this year. At the time we agreed to stimulate bilateral economic ties in every possible way. Today, during talks with the President of Vietnam, we did indeed reach important agreements, and sign substantial documents.
This is the result of the work done by our colleagues, especially government ministers, that is your subordinates. I’d like to warmly thank you for this.
Our countries are linked by a long history of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance. Vietnam is Russia’s key partner in the Asia-Pacific region, and today we have taken another important step towards strengthening our cooperation.
Thank you.
