President Vladimir Putin: Akhmat Khadji Kadyrov fulfilled his duty towards his people with dignity and courage. He was a genuinely heroic person. In everything he did he showed in the most convincing fashion that there can be no equating an entire people with bandits and terrorists.
All these years he acted as a protecting shield for Chechnya and the Chechens and confidently led his republic towards peace.
Akhmat Khadji Kadyrov left this life on May 9, the date of our national holiday, Victory Day. He left this life unvanquished.
