President Vladimir Putin: Mr President, I offer you, first of all, my warmest greetings, and I would like to address you as the person who heads the Russia-Egypt Friendship Society. A great deal has been done over these years to develop Russian-Egyptian relations. I am very pleased to see that inter-parliamentary contacts are playing an increasingly significant role in this respect. I hope that you will continue to show such active and consistent support for the development of ties between our two countries.

Fathi Surur: Today we have the honour of receiving a dear guest, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Today I have the honour of meeting with you as Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament and President of the Russia-Egypt Friendship Society.

In my first capacity, I express my gratitude to the parliament of the Republic of Egypt and its deep respect for you as the leader of a country that is our friend. In my second capacity, let me assure you that our friendship society will continue to make every effort to strengthen the historic relations and the spirit of cooperation between Egypt and Russia. We hope that these relations will see even greater progress and development under your personal leadership. It is with great hope and respect that we follow your work aimed at bringing about prosperity in Russia and making your country flourish. Your visit to Egypt is a historic event in our relations, in which, as I said, we feel sincere pride.
