President of Romania Traian Basescu: Mr President, first of all, I want to thank you for accepting the invitation to come to Bucharest to attend the Russia-NATO Council’s summit meeting. I also want to thank you for the good relations that have developed between us since my visit to Russia in 2005, and that have continued right through until the end of your term in office.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr President, for my part, I would like to thank you for your hospitality, your very constructive work, and for the good organisation of this meeting. As far as our bilateral relations are concerned, we will celebrate the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Russia and Romania this October. Over these last years, since your visit to Moscow, we have accomplished much in terms of developing our economic ties, and our bilateral trade has now reached a figure of $5 billion.

Mr President, I am very pleased to have this opportunity to exchange views with you on bilateral relations, and I once again confirm our invitation for you to visit Moscow.
