Visiting Tulun school No.6

September 2, 2019, Tulun, Irkutsk Region

Vladimir Putin visited general education school No. 6 in Tulun, which was damaged by flash floods and repaired by the start of the new school year.

The President was informed about the damage caused to the school building by the flood, inspected the renovated classrooms, the canteen, the school gym and sports ground. He also visited classrooms during lessons and congratulated the pupils on the start of the new school year.

Tulun school No. 6 was in the flood zone and the building sustained significant damage, but it was repaired within a short period of time and modern equipment was installed in the classrooms. This year, pupils from school No. 20 were also transferred to this school, after their building was destroyed by the flood.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Congratulations on the start of the new school to you and all the children who study here, and not only in your town, but around the country.

Today is a good and festive day when you are surely thinking about what you need to achieve in the near future, in the coming years. You will achieve a lot, I have no doubt about it, and it is up to the adults to create the conditions for this to happen. I know that there are a lot of people working on this, and I’m sure you will like the result that will be achieved. And then, looking at this result, you will aspire for an even better result.

I know that many of you – not only here in this classroom, probably, but in general many children in this town – in this flood zone, have been very brave and acted like grown-ups, helping adults. I would like to thank you and everyone else who are not here, for this and to wish you every success in the new school year. I am sure that your teachers will do everything possible to get you interested and to make this a very useful school year.

Have a wonderful new school year, everyone! Congratulations!
