President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man (retranslated): On behalf of the National Assembly of Vietnam, we warmly welcome you, Mr President, along with all members of the Russian delegation. I would like to say on behalf of our party and people that Vietnam is delighted by your state visit.
I would also like to extend congratulations to the Russian Federation on holding successful presidential elections. Your election with a significant majority manifests that Russian people put their immense trust in you.
We deeply value and remember with gratitude the tremendous historic assistance provided to us by the Soviet Union and the Russian people.
We consistently prioritise our comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, as it holds a pivotal position in our foreign policy.
We want to advance cooperation with Russia across all areas to foster peace, stability, and development in our region and globally.
I understand your schedule has been packed this morning with talks involving our President, Prime Minister, and General Secretary.
I am happy to have this chance to meet with you.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: I am delighted to have the opportunity to meet with you during this visit and discuss important matters for the development of Russia-Vietnam relations within the framework of our parliamentary ties.
Firstly, I would also like to congratulate you on your election to this high position.
The parliamentary aspect, as I mentioned earlier, holds great significance in our relationship. We have maintained interstate ties since the 1950s, and now we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.
I would also like to note that, similar to your perspective, Vietnam holds an unequivocal priority in our foreign policy. As I mentioned earlier, the parliamentary dimension of our cooperation is crucial, including corresponding parliamentary structures on both sides. I understand that from the Vietnamese side, you lead this structure.
Certainly, parliaments play an essential role in developing and strengthening our relations. Specifically, legislative decisions serve as a robust, reliable foundation for our practical and enduring cooperation in security, economic, cultural and humanitarian development.
We anticipate that your election to the high position of President of the National Assembly will further strengthen this aspect of our parliamentary cooperation.
Our recent negotiations with the President, Prime Minister, and General Secretary have been very productive.
