Working meeting with Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov

August 20, 2024, Grozny

The Head of the Chechen Republic updated the President on the region’s socioeconomic development.

At the beginning of the meeting, President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated Ramzan Kadyrov on the progress made in developing Grozny, the capital of Chechnya.

The Chechen leader thanked Vladimir Putin for his close attention to the Chechen Republic. Ramzan Kadyrov said that the socioeconomic situation in the region is stable, adding that the regional government is working tirelessly to reduce unemployment. The goal is it to bring it down to 5 percent by the end of the year.

The head of the republic noted that more than 500 investment projects are being implemented in Chechnya, including the renovation of the airport and railway station, the modernisation of the local cement plant and the construction of a hydroelectric power station.

In mid-July, the Chechen Republic hosted the Caucasus Investment Forum, which was attended by more than 4,000 participants from 33 countries. Importantly, some 100 agreements worth more than 106 billion rubles were signed on the sidelines of the forum.

Ramzan Kadyrov stressed that the Chechen Republic ranks first in cash performance under national and federal projects. Chechnya is taking part in 25 programmes, with 21 of them delivering positive results.

In addition, the region is actively building residential properties and infrastructure. The current area of development is 6.365 million square metres, and it is expected to reach 7.172 million square metres by the end of the year. According to the head of the republic, residents have been relocated from 178,500 square metres of dilapidated housing since 2019 as part of the national projects.

Separately, Ramzan Kadyrov informed the President about the republic’s active participation in the special military operation. Since 2022, more than 47,000 fighters have been sent to the theatre of the special military operation, including about 19,000 volunteers trained at the Russian Special Forces University in the city of Gudermes.

The fighters have been equipped with the necessary ammunition and provided with specialised equipment purchased by the Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov Foundation (named after Ramzan Kadyrov’s father, the first president of Chechnya). The region has also built up a reserve of tens of thousands of trained and equipped fighters who are ready to leave for the line of contact. In addition, the Foundation has sent more than 26,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the residents of the liberated territories.

Furthermore, Ramzan Kadyrov informed the President that a fully-fledged branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation to support participants in the special military operation was functioning in the republic.

Concluding the meeting, Vladimir Putin noted that a great deal has been achieved in the republic thanks to the hard work and talent of the Chechen people. He wished Ramzan Kadyrov every success in implementing all of his plans, and stressed that the federal government will continue to support the region’s development.
