The President congratulated Russian medical workers on their professional holiday during a videoconference with the regions where new healthcare facilities were launched. The videoconference was held on June 10.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: I would like to take this opportunity, as we inaugurate many new facilities in Russia, to wish all the best to medical workers on their special day. My best regards go to those who have chosen this demanding yet crucial and noble profession. This day is a wonderful opportunity for millions of Russians to express their gratitude to doctors, paramedics, nurses, and caregivers for their dedication to their mission, for their professionalism, talent, and kindness.

Whether our medical workers are employed at a large federal centre, a medical and obstetric station, a big specialised hospital or a regional clinic, whether they work on ambulances or in frontline hospitals, they always perform their professional duties competently.

Friends, the significance of your work cannot be overstated. You prevent and treat diseases, preserve lives and health, alleviate pain and give hope. In our society, your selfless contribution is held in the highest respect and is always met with gratitude.

This sentiment was reaffirmed during the challenging period of the pandemic, when nearly all medical professionals in Russia were engaged in fighting the disease. It is thanks to their skills, kindness, compassion, courage and sacrifice that it was defeated. This, without exaggeration, heroic deed has become part of our country’s history.

My special heartfelt gratitude goes to the medical workers who participate in the special military operation. These heroes risk their lives to save the injured, covering them with their own bodies if needed, carrying out difficult surgeries and supporting our soldiers.

The deeper purpose of your profession is to serve and care for others, regardless of the conditions and circumstances. This is what makes your expertise, as well as your dedication to uphold the traditions of previous generations of doctors, to learn, to move forward, and to embrace new technologies and methods, so important.

You are entrusted with the vital task of safeguarding the entire nation’s health – doctors working in primary care and federal-level professionals, as well as scientists at leading research centres who invent advanced diagnostic and treatment methods and develop Russian-made pharmaceuticals and equipment.

All of you place your duties as healthcare professionals front and centre, giving your patients everything you have, including your stamina, energy, emotion, and experience. Thank you.
