State Council meeting

July 17, 2012, The Kremlin, Moscow

Vladimir Putin held a State Council meeting On the Tasks of the State Bodies of the Federal Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation in Ensuring Stable Economic Growth and Increasing Living Standards of the People.

This was the first meeting of the State Council since Vladimir Putin took office as President of Russia.

Mr Putin set out the objectives for ensuring stable economic growth and improving living standards in a series of programme articles during the presidential election campaign. The principles formulated in these articles became the basis of the presidential executive order On Long-Term State Economic Policy and several others signed on the day of Vladimir Putin’s inauguration, May 7, 2012.

The meeting was held in a new format. In accordance with the Presidential Executive Order of July 11, 2012, in addition to the governors of all 83 federal constituent entities, Speakers of the Council of Federation and State Duma and leaders of the factions of political parties represented in the State Duma are now also members of the State Council.
