Meeting of the State Council working group on economic issues and preventing the spread of coronavirus

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin chaired a meeting of the State Council working group on economic issues and preventing the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).

The meeting was held via videoconference and attended by Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin, working group members, presidential envoys to the federal districts, as well as heads and deputy heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksut Shadayev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexei Uchenov, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yelena Fastova delivered a progress report on measures to enhance economic resilience to sanctions.

A joint report was given by the chairs of State Council commissions related to socioeconomic development – Chelyabinsk Region Governor and Chairman of the State Council Commission on the Economy and Finance Alexei Teksler, and Moscow Region Governor and Chairman of the State Council Commission on Communications, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy Andrei Vorobyov. Primorye Territory Governor Oleg Kozhemyako spoke about support for agricultural producers.

Deputy Minister of Transport Igor Chalik reported on proposals to support Russian airports in response to the decline in passenger traffic caused by external sanctions pressure. Head of the Republic of Buryatia and Chairman of the State Council Commission on Transport Alexei Tsydenov briefed the meeting participants on pressing issues being considered by the commission.

The participants discussed the progress in implementing the measures included in the comprehensive plan to ensure the stability of the Russian economy in the face of sanctions, paying special attention to the implementation of concessional lending programmes for critical enterprises and SMEs. The participants also considered additional proposals received from the federal authorities and executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Proposals approved by the working group will be submitted for further consideration to the Government Commission on Enhancing Economic Resilience to Sanctions.
