Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Mr Cameron congratulated Mr Putin on his inauguration as President of Russia.
The two leaders discussed a number of relevant issues on the bilateral agenda, including prospects for energy cooperation and joint efforts in countering the terrorist and other security threats, including during the Olympic Games.
Mr Putin and Mr Cameron also looked at issues on the international agenda and will continue these discussions during their upcoming meetings in person.
