President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Your Majesty, allow me to wish you a warm welcome to Moscow.
Russia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have been developing for a long time now relations based on friendship, mutual respect and cooperation in the interests of both nations. We greatly appreciate your contribution, your personal contribution and that of Jordan, to settling the complex processes in the Middle East. It is a great pleasure to see you and welcome you here in Moscow, and I hope for a substantive discussion today on our bilateral relations and the situation in the region.
King Abdullah II of Jordan: Thank you very much, Mr President.
I am delighted to be back here in Moscow. We have had a long and very strong relationship not only between ourselves, but between our two countries, and we are here to reaffirm not only the personal relationship between the both of us, but also between our two countries.
Russia has always played a very important role in our part of the world and one that we in Jordan have always held in very high esteem. The President and I have always consulted on many issues that have been of critical importance to our region, and I am here in Moscow to talk with my dear brother about the issues of concern to the Middle East.
Two of the major subjects that we’ll talk about are obviously where we are in the peace process and again the issue of Syria, where I believe that both of us are looking for a peaceful and political resolution that solves the crisis in front of the Syrian people. And in the atmosphere of the strong friendship that we have always had, I am sure that this will be a very fruitful meeting and I am delighted to be back here in the presence of my good friend.
Vladimir Putin: Your Majesty, at one point you were thinking of travelling around Russia by motorbike. Do you still have these plans?
Abdullah II: I’m hoping that with my dear brother we may get a chance to do it both of us together.
Vladimir Putin: I’ll think it over.
