At Japan’s initiative, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The two leaders exchanged views on the main areas in Russian-Japanese relations and expressed their mutual desire to develop political, economic, humanitarian, and security cooperation. They also discussed the crisis in Ukraine.
Mr Abe confirmed his invitation to Mr Putin to visit Japan at a time convenient for both sides. The two leaders noted how important it is to prepare thoroughly for this event, including with bilateral meetings at various levels and the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and the Economy.
The two leaders agreed to continue their personal contacts.
