Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on his re-election as president of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The message reads, in part:
“Your convincing victory in the election confirms your deserved reputation as a true leader of your people. Kazakhstan’s substantial achievements in socioeconomic development, state-building, and on the international stage over these last years have earned you the justified support and trust of your nation.
I greatly appreciate the constant attention you give to deepening the strategic partnership that Russia and Kazakhstan have built on a solid base of traditions of good-neighbourliness and mutual respect. I am confident that our joint efforts will keep our multifaceted bilateral cooperation moving forward at a rapid pace and enrich it with ambitious new projects.
Kazakhstan’s consistent efforts to advance regional integration and cooperation have won all-round recognition. Our countries’ close work to coordinate our policies within the Customs Union and develop the Common Economic Space within the Eurasian Economic Community, and consolidate our ties within the CIS, Collective Security Treaty Organisation, and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, has proven its effectiveness on many an occasion. It is important to continue our joint efforts to move on to the next step in our integration – the Eurasian Economic Union.
I am sure that our two countries will continue to develop their alliance’s enormous potential for the benefit of our peoples and in the interests of guaranteeing stable development and security throughout the Eurasian region.”
