Official visit to Vietnam

Vladimir Putin made an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In Hanoi, the President of Russia laid wreathes at the Vietnam War Memorial and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

After the official welcome ceremony, Vladimir Putin held talks with President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang. Later Russian-Vietnamese talks continued in the presence of both countries’ delegations.

Following their talks, Vladimir Putin and Truong Tan Sang adopted a joint declaration on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam. Furthermore, a number of bilateral documents were signed in the presence of the heads of state.

These include intergovernmental agreements on military cooperation and training for Vietnamese citizens in Russian institutions of higher education, as well as documents relating to science and technology, geology and mineral resources, healthcare and medical science, and prospecting and extracting hydrocarbons.

Vladimir Putin and Truong Tan Sang also made press statements.

Later on, the President of Russia met with Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung, and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.

The President of Russia also visited the joint photo exhibit by ITAR-TASS and the Vietnam News Agency, and attended the opening ceremony of the Days of Russian Culture in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
