Russian-Vietnamese talks

Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang, who is in Russia on an official visit.

On the agenda were ways to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The consultations focused in particular on expanding cooperation in trade and the economy, investment, and cultural and humanitarian area, as well as practical implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Vietnam.

There was also an exchange of views on current issues on the international agenda, with particular emphasis on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.

A number of bilateral agreements were signed following the talks.

The Joint Statement following the official visit of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation was signed. Other documents signed concern cooperation on exchange of confidential financial information related to money laundering and financing of terrorism, the work of the Russian-Vietnamese High-Level Working Group on priority investment projects, cooperation between the two countries’ state treasuries, a project to build a nuclear science and technology centre in Vietnam, developing space sector cooperation over 2017–2022, railways cooperation, and cooperation between Russian news agency Sputnik and the Vietnam News Agency.

The two presidents also made press statements.
