Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma for ratification the Treaty on Alliance and Integration between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia, signed in Moscow on March 18, 2015.
The Treaty constitutes a basic document between the two countries. It fixes both parties’ intention to gradually develop closer cooperation in the social, economic and humanitarian spheres, and in defence and security. The Treaty is in full keeping with Russia’s interests and will lay the foundation for signing separate agreements in the relevant areas.
The Treaty lays the base for interstate relations between Russia and South Ossetia, and gives full place to the basic human rights and civic freedoms.
