On Defender of the Fatherland Day, Vladimir Putin paid tribute to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin wall.
Taking part in the ceremony were 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War veterans, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Constitutional Court President Valery, and other state officials and politicians.
The ceremony included a moment of silence to honour the memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland and a march of the Presidential Regiment.
