Wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on the 75th anniversary of the start of the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War. The ceremony by the Kremlin wall is held on the Day of Memory and Grief.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, members of the Government and Parliament also laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and took part in the ceremony.

The President also laid flowers at the memorials to the hero cities and the cities of military glory.

The wreath-laying ceremony concluded with a ceremonial march by troops from the Moscow Garrison representing the Army, the Aerospace Forces and the Navy.
