President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Colleagues,
As today’s host, allow me to open this working meeting. We agreed to hold an informal exchange of views on the security situation in our countries, discuss developments in the world as the New Year approaches, and share our opinions on these various problems.
We are constantly in dialogue on the issues of major interest. We know that problems in the world are not becoming fewer. At least, this gives us the chance to keep up with events in various areas and make timely responses to the threats that arise in our countries.
We know how complicated relations are in many parts of the world. The number of problem places and hot spots has not decreased, and we have not managed to resolve old conflicts as often as we would have liked. The problems in Afghanistan, the Middle East, Syria and other hot spots are all subjects of concern. I am very pleased therefore to have this chance to meet today and discuss all of these problems.
Thank you very much.
