On February 8, Russian Science Day, the President will present the 2022 Presidential Prize in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists in the Kremlin and will hold a meeting of the Council for Science and Education.

Five winners will be awarded prizes for research in the fields of oil production, oceanology, chemical analysis, and the development of technology for testing complex technical devices.

The main issue on the agenda of the Council for Science and Education, which will meet via videoconference, is the implementation of strategic science and technology initiatives.

Currently, the Russian Government is implementing federal science and technology programmes in the fields of agriculture, genetic technologies, synchrotron-neutron research, and climate change. An innovative project of national importance related to the creation of a unified national system for monitoring climate-active substances has been launched.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov and President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Centre Mikhail Kovalchuk will make reports at the meeting.
