German Klimenko discussed telemedicine with Moscow’s medical community

June 9, 2017, Moscow

Presidential Adviser German Klimenko chaired a meeting on the use of the Internet in medicine. The participants of the roundtable, who represented 540 Moscow medical institutions, discussed trends and prospects for the development of information technologies in Russian healthcare.

The Internet industry is ready to cooperate with the medical community to develop telemedicine technologies, German Klimenko said. The Institute of Internet Development (IID), in conjunction with the Federation Council, the Internet Initiatives Development Foundation (IIDF) and Yandex, have developed a draft law on telemedicine, which was submitted to the  State Duma on May 30, the Presidential Adviser said.

He reminded the participants that the IID has recently signed an agreement with the Moscow Government on the joint development of digital medical technologies, and that a scientific and practical laboratory is being established to develop and test solutions in telemedicine under that agreement.

Mr Klimenko also told the audience about the areas of work on the development of the Internet economy. The meeting featured a videoconference with Khanty-Mansiysk.
