A working group to prepare a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport to discuss national goals and strategic objectives in developing physical culture and sport in the Russian Federation through to 2024 and beyond, held its final meeting.
Presidential Aide and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport Igor Levitin delivered a report at the council’s meeting.
The working group, headed by president of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Irina Viner-Usmanova, analysed proposals submitted by council members, representatives of federal and regional executive authorities, public organisations, and physical culture and sports professionals.
The meeting participants discussed the main measures to achieve the goals and objectives set out in the Presidential Executive Order of May 7, 2018, On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation through to 2024. These include measures to be implemented within the framework of the approved national projects, the drafting of a strategy for the development of physical culture and sport through to 2030, and the development of a system of grants to identify and help train gifted athletes.
The participants exchanged views on improving legislation to ensure breakthrough development in physical culture and sport. They highlighted the need to actively introduce modern digital technology in this sphere and proposed methods to do this.
The discussion was also attended by Primorye Territory Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, who heads the State Council working group on tourism, physical culture and sport, and Sverdlovsk Region Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev.
