On May 28, Vladimir Putin will hold a videoconference meeting of the Presidential Council on Sport dedicated to promoting adaptive sports in Russia

Participants will include Presidential Aide Alexei Dyumin, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport; Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko; Tula Region Governor Dmitry Milyaev, head of the working group preparing the meeting; Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyaryov; Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency Veronika Skvortsova; President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov, as well as representatives of federal authorities, heads of regions, and leaders of national sports organisations.

In particular, the discussion will focus on ways to expand access to adaptive recreational and competitive sports for people with disabilities, including veterans of the special military operation and other combat veterans; potential amendments to laws governing habilitation and rehabilitation of disabled people and new opportunities these changes should create; the quality of prosthetic and orthopaedic services provided to people with disabilities; and steps to address staff shortages in adaptive sports.

The meeting will feature presentations of several sports facilities in various regions of Russia that have capabilities for offering adaptive physical training and sports programmes.
