Celebratory meeting in honour of Prosecutor General’s Office Workers’ Day

January 10, 2014, Moscow

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov participated in a celebratory meeting honouring the 292nd anniversary of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office.

In his speech, Mr Ivanov talked about the need to increase the efficacy of prosecutorial monitoring over the investigation of criminal offences, first and foremost of terrorist and extremist crimes. A multi-ethnic state like Russia has no place for militant nationalism, religious or ethnic strife, and the prosecutorial authorities should be actively involved in the comprehensive effort to build civilised relations in the field of migration, Sergei Ivanov noted.

The Presidential Chief of Staff also stressed the importance of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office and the monitoring and supervisory authorities in countering corruption and decreasing administrative pressure on businesses.

Sergei Ivanov congratulated members of the Prosecutor General’s Office staff on their upcoming professional holiday. The Prosecutor General’s Office Workers’ Day is celebrated on January 12 in Russia, commemorating the establishment of the post of Prosecutor General and the emergence of the Prosecutor General’s Office in 1722.
